Coolant temp guage sensor

Hi, I have a very intermittent issue where if I leave my 2003 1.6 fsi parked nose down on a steep(ish) driveway and don't move the car for a day or two I get the coolant warning light and three beeps come on when I first start the car.

Once I move the car off of the drive and get about 10-15metres down the road the warning light stops flashing and disappears...

I have checked the coolant level which is in the middle of min and max, and checked all of the hoses for any signs of leaks, and its all pretty clean and tidy...

Where is the temperature sensor located? is it near the back of the coolant reservoir?

Could it just be related to the angle of the car when parked on the slope for a little while, causing the coolant to sit more to the front of the reservoir bottle away from the sensor, so the sensor thinks it needs topping up?

Or could it be a faulty sensor?

It doesn't happen when the car is started from being parked on a flat road... just on the slope

Any thoughts?

This used to happen to me. Its just the incline. If you have checked your level on the flat you'll be fine

Hi just to clarify the light is warning of low coolant level not temperature. Im sure it is due to the incline and slightly low coolant in the expansion tank. It has been know for the sensor to play up but as your issue is when the car has cooled on the slope. Try topping up with g13 coolant and keep an eye on the level as it could be a slow coolant leak from the engine. Have you got any pink residue around the pipe connections? cheers mike

Sorry to hijack the thread. But if the low level coolant sensor doesn't go off when the car has wet itself, does that mean a new expansion tank. Recently lost the entire contents in the tank but the warning never went off. Does when you startup with the sensor unplugged though.
