Corrofed chrome trim, how to restore?

The chrome trim on my A2 is not ageing well.
The chrome especially on the boot lip/sill has got salt corrosion on it.
Is there any way to clean this or refurbish or mask it?

All methods welcome!

[oops meant corroded in the title, mods can you change please!]

The trim strip on the boot is very prone to bubbling - I had 2 replaced under warranty!

There's no real way to repair it - just get a new one to put in. They're not cheap though at £47 each and to fix it in position, you really need to take the bumper off.

Cheers,

Mike

Ada's chrome boot lip is a little pitted as well, so if Skip had 2 replaced under warranty and ours are both oxidised, this must be common in the car. I didn't really notice it until I was detai...... oops -I mean carefully cleaning the car last weekend.
Polish won't remove the marks, so its in/under the surface. Just like dodgy Ronal alloys which bubble after a couple of years, its likely to be an endearing Audi characteristic. Doesnt bother me enough to replace it - and you hardly see it with the tailgate closed. ;)
