Cracked 58 mpg this week from my petrol!

even 51 is very very good. I've done 45 best, 65mph on motorway (with 3 adults + luggage, climate control on). Calculation is: miles x 4.55 / petrol in liters. Basically, if you see about 270 miles on a single fill up on the small tank petrol (mine is usually 30L), you're 40mpg+.
 
The one car I always compare my A2 to for daily mpg is the 1.4 8v 6n Polo.
It does slow easy driving very well and with the merest hint of restraint gets into the 50s. 175/65/13s help the ride also ;)
I have got into the 50s a couple of times with mine though not as regularly or easily as I could in the Polo. True, the Polo didn't have climate/oss/leather/Bose and I wouldn't mind trying a basic, light-as-possible 1.4 with 1.2 arches/aero/ride height :eek:
