cracked windscreen - a blessing in disguise

A 10cm crack suddenly appeared from the base of the windscreen the other day. So a quick call to the insurance company will have it replaced tomorrow, at a cost of £100. Not the cheapest excess out there, but there's nothing I can do about that now.

But in some ways this is a blessing in disguise. Ever since buying the car 2 years ago I have not fully solved the problem of the hundreds of fine scratches all over it. It at times made driving towards a low sun level quite uncomfortable. But as of tomorrow, all this will be in the pass.

I might even treat the car to a new wiper blade!

Every cloud has a silver lining :)

Hi Will i had the same last year with my screen covered in fine scratches in the area of the wiper sweep. I feel it was caused by the ash cloud fall out we had. I was also "lucky" to have a crack and a nice new screen---i put a new blade on and boy its so nice!
Enjoy mike
