DAB and reception

I have some on order was hoping they would be here by now...I only have one and tried that near the 12v usb adapter but no difference :( the choke is too big to fit near the dashcam

Will try a few things when I get more time I reckon including tin foil!

Whats also interesting is I've just tried another USB plug (Anker - meant to be ok but its not!) and noticed that putting my headlights on despite a single choke is putting the signal strength down by 40-50%. I have LEDs in the headlights so will experiment with that and the headlight switch given its an auto switch.

More and more beginning to think mounting the aerial near the back will help with this

@Steve b

Are you using the Bluetooth on that dab unit at all?

I assume it’s connected to the radio via some sort of aux adapter?

I’m new to A2’s having just bought one yesterday. Mine has the concert 2 radio with Bose. 6 Music is our preferred station so I need to get some DAB sorted right away but I don’t want to replace the stock radio unless I really have to. Would appreciate any pointers folk can offer. Cheers!

I fitted my Pure 600 today. Soldered a length of wire to a steel washer, stuck the washer on the magnetic earth on the Pure, wrapped it with insulating tape to stop it pulling off and connected the earth wire to the earth point at the bottom of the A pillar. Works perfectly and very quick to install as I already had a functioning Connects 2, so the Pure is connected via the line out cable and a "wired" USB 2 port charger hiding under the tray in front of the gear lever.

Yup I ended up putting my 600 on the n/s rear quarter panel and connecting the earthing point under the trim panel to the roof, then extending the USB and 3.5mm cables to the front areas, with the 3.5mm cable using a earthing reducer 3.5mm extension block from Amazon.

Working well tbh - as good as I could have expected. The 600 display is good just wish there was a way to leave the display on all the time but then the batteries would go quickly

The problem with these "add-on" units is that they use an FM channel to carry the DAB signal. That means that you can't scan a range of DAB stations to choose the one that you want to listen too. (Well, that's the way that it is with my "Media-DAB" installation). I'll soon be removing my RNS-E and replacing it with an "all-singing, all-dancing" Pioneer head-unit. Don't forget, things have moved forward in the 20 years since the A2 was introduced ....

same here, no piggy backing on the FM signal, hard wired all the way :)

I can highly recommend the Pioneer 'Car play' series of had units if you are (A) double din & (b) an apple phone user
