Hi,

Now I'm almost healthy again (yay sinus infections!), a quick heads-up; Icetrack 5 is on.

If you're interested, please, let me know. Cost-wise, it will be similar to the last years, I think. So that's around €300 or so for your weekend, including track time, hut space and the option on additional stuff if you wish (like skidoo, husky sledding, reindeer sledding... pretty much anything is possible with enough time and money). You'll need winter tyres on your car, and I'd strongly suggest bringing your own. You can share, of course ... I might well be talking to my brother and asking him if he's interested in bringing a Subaru or old 2.8 quattro from the UK and leaving it here, it should be a blast with a sensitive right foot. And opportunities exist in every single car park, here. Every roundabout can be scandinavian-flicked if you want (I've seen this in Oulu; four roundabouts in quick succession and every single one sideways...).

The Germans will probably be on the ferry from Germany on Thursday morning at 0300, so leaving the UK on Tuesday evening / Wed early and getting across to Travemünde makes sense. They also have cheap tickets, with the option being across Denmark and then the bridge or ferries to Sweden, the six hour slog up the E4 and then overnight again to Helsinki or Turku. That's your call, the travel time is similar. The cheap tickets are due to a complex set of club memberships, they can explain that better than I.

The track area will probably be the same as last year, so that means around 3km of course with a 700x50m runway, completely iced over. I have the video from last session currently awaiting approval from a bunch of people, and I'll publish it when I can.

If you run a diesel, I'd suggest making sure your tank is nearly empty when you board the ferry. Also: make sure your anti-freeze is good to around -35 or so (which essentially means pure g12++). Everything else? The A2s just work :)

The rest of the details we can go through later. Last year's thread, with links to one video from 2011: http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?20350-Icetrack-4-2013

... and thank goodness, the weather's sorted itsefl out. -17 this morning, -22 is due at the weekend with highs of -10 - -15. This is more like it.

So the track should be built by the end of this week. If you're interested, please, let me know ASAP.

thanks!

and if someone's now got an opportunity they didn't previously have - well, Finnlines have a special on for 40% off. It won't get cheaper than this.

Monday afterwards, we'll be driving out some; I need to be in Oulu in the evening. So we'll be going here
