When purchasing your Audi A2, How many of you were baffled by all the Extras codes listed in your service manual ?

I recently purchased an A2 tdi from the original 1st owner, so it was nice to get all the Audi service history, along with both keys, plus original plastic tag key code and the original Audi owners wallet with all handbooks and cards etc

Looking round the car and its great interior put a smile on my face.

Then I opened ( removed ) the bonnet - OMG !!! YUK !

I took a closer look and shrieked at the mess especially in the middle pot.

The owner gingerly handed me a bakers crate from the boot with the head and turbo in.

I didn't have to inspect too close to see there was a hole through the exhaust valve and that the tip of the glowplug was missing and had obviously bounced around the cylinder nibbling the edge of the piston crown, before shooting through the valve and out of the exhaust.

Oh well, I love a challenge and at this price, I'll rebuild the engine, ( or have a good go ) and hopefully it'll soon look like this )

Sorry for all my babbling ! Here's the PDF codes chart.

Oh, One more thing, How many codes are listed on the sticker at the front of your Service manual ? These are mine..( 38 I think )

Looks like you've got your hands full there but wow, what a find! I lost count of the extras on the interior photo alone. Why not start a project thread here? http://www.a2oc.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?86-Projects sounds like it could be an interesting one!

Thanks Steve,
I have thought about doing something within the project forum as im forever taking photo's ( step by step ) as I strip or rebuild things, which will end up being very useful for other members that wish to take on some of the jobs within the engine bay.

Hi Spike,
I did do a site search before posting and couldn't find anything on options ( I knew there should be somewhere ! )
The link to RichardAudio's post back in 2007 was great, and the option finder a very useful tool.

Hi, many concur the search facility is not brilliant and sometimes have more success via Google. It's always worth checking the 'how to' guides as much of the popular stuff is collated there.

'How to' guides, particularly with pictures, are always in demand so anything you can produce will be greatly appreciated. Personally I never seem to be organised or have the inclination to have a camera and notepad at the ready (along with clean hands) to do these things justice so I've got the greatest respect for anyone who can.

Cheers Spike
