Diesel Particulate Filters or Cat Convertor

My Diesel has developed a whistling noise when rpm is over idle. Had a look and appears to be coming from the flex. The flex end furtherest from the engine block appears to have a lot of black sot and is blowing.
Question is:

'can the flex be replaced or am I looking for the whole section?

Any advise would be appreciates.

Sorry I don't. The only info I have seen is from the thread I posted earlier.
