Dip sticks

Yes, that would be appreciated .... At least I can see the oil appearing somewhere on the flat plastic strip! (so I know that I'm roughly in range)

David

I'm still hoping that an A2OC member can supply this information, please? What is required are two measurements :- the distance in mm's from the point where the the flexible insertion-wire enters the plastic tip, to the start of the criss-cross measurement-band and the same again, but to the end of that band. This information will allow me to file two lines into my, as now, plain white measuring strip.
It'll be fully usable, then! Oh, it is a diesel, by the way ....

David

Nice one Gary. Sorry it took a while to get your desired response David i didn't notice it. But then if i read you asking advice about a dip stick I'd just have thought you'd been speaking to Mrs. Henderson. That's one of the tamer things she calls me! :p

Yes, my wife uses that "affectionate" term about me too.

But i reckon that it is because i am always up to my neck in it.

The pictures where taken of my TDI dipstick, ile Add some pics of my petrol one too as would imagine there exactly the same bar the length of the cable, but ile add in the same way with the tape measure to be sure you get the ones needed.

I repaired my broken dip-stick.

It didn't take too long and it's a good feeling to fix it yourself. The only problem is that I don't know where to put the "max/min" marks on the new insertion plate!

David
Sorry for reviving such an old thread, but do you still have the car with this "fix"? If yes has it held up? My orange part also broke halfway like yours and am thinking of doing the same thing

Is your car petrol or diesel ?
I sell new diesel ones & I have a used petrol one.
Cheers

Yes, I've still got it and it's fine. I just like repairing things but you'd probably be better purchasing one from Ami ....

I appreciate the offer but ive already ordered one, just wanted to do the mod to check it properly before the new one arrives :)

Also am from Portugal, shipping import customs tax from UK might make it too expensive :(
