Information Diversity Unit

On an A4 Avant I had a few years ago. There were three antennas, the rear screen, and one on each of the side windows, like a mini screen heater. So, I can see how the diversity unit would feed the best signal to the head unit. What I can't work out is how this is implemented on the A2, as I can only see the one antenna on the rear screen. Can anyone enlighten me please?

There are two more antenna units, underneath the trim panels on either side of the rear screen.

Here's a diagram of the Symphony radio system. It shows five separate aerials feeding the amplifiers to allow selection of the strongest signal:
