Does anyone in Sheffield have Koni FSD's?

I'm looking for a short ride in a Koni kitted out car, preferably with 17" wheels fitted, to see what the ride's like before purchasing.

Can anyone help?

I am indeed Bretti - although any traveller from Sheffield would be better off taking the Woodhead Pass to get to Mossley.

Cheers,

Mike

PS Have been working with a fellow Finn recently, although his first language is Swedish - he's from Aland!

Hi there - although I don't live in Sheffield, I have just today had my Koni FSDs installed (with Weitec 30s at the front). I run on 17"s, so I can give you my first-hand experience

The difference is incredibly striking. I honestly didn't expect it to be such a transformation, but that's pretty much what it is. The car rides smoothly instead of crashing and jarring. The car sounds quieter too over bumps. It also turns into bends more positively. But the ride is still firm, and it doesn't float. So it's not that it's gone all soft and French on you, but it's just better. Vastly better. It now feels like a proper solid grown up car.

If I were you I would just take this as an article of faith and go out and buy the kit. It's that good.

Thanks Dan B for the information, it's much appreciated. I'd still like a ride, before I fork out. Maybe I will take a trip over to see Mike, if he'll have me, when I'm over that way.

Is the new ride comparable to say an A3 or Golf GTi, in terms of comfort? I'm sure the handling is much better, as it already is in standard form!

Thanks

I'm sure Mike would happily take you for a trip in Tank - you'll end up jealous though!

I don't know how the ride compares vs. the A3/Golf platform I'm afraid, never having driven one. What I can say is that it really just feels like a different car. A much better car.

As per my last post on here, I can safely say that the ride and handling of an A2 with FSD is far better than a new model A3 S line. The A3 does feel a bit more poised on the road - but it's a lot firmer and there's no way its as much fun. I think you will find that most owners who have shelled out on this modification will conisder it money well spent. I'm just waiting till I can hide another few quid from the Mrs!!!:D

Having driven an A3 3-door S-line, I can safely say that the A2 with FSDs is pretty much the same, but the A2 changes direction a lot quicker.

The A2 is less insulated from the outside world than the A3, but that's down to the heavier steel shell, but overall, I think you'll be impressed - drop me a line when you'll be over this way.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi all, I have been dropping in and out of your forum for some time now having picked up my A2 1.4TDi Sport some 2 years ago; but have not yet used the forum in anger... Until now!

I have been watching the FSD thread with interest for some time and have taken the plunge and bought myself a set. I was going to use my existing sport springs but would like your advice around fitting Weitec 30/00 Springs... How much difference would they make to the overall ride?

I have also picked up a set of 15” A3 pepper pots on eBay for the princely price of £22 and fitted Falken ziex ZE912 195/55 R15 tyres all round.

I had been running standard sport 17s with Toyo Proxy T1Rs but found the overall combination incredibly harsh and far too easy to kerb the rims

Could I also ask you where you are buying your Weitecs from please? It would be good if there were someware local to me in Cheshire so that I could pick up a set tomorrow if you think that it would be worth changing from the Audi OEM Sport springs?!

Many thanks,

Phil H

You think so Mike? I must be getting way too biased toward the A2!! Theres something more civilised about the A3's handling - so the fact that the A2 handles like a wee mischief maker gives it so much more charachter in my book! You are right about cornering and insulation though!:D
