Odd title and in a bit of a pickle really. I have a 90TDI that has been a labour of love when bought (a basic car with faults that I made into the almost dream spec).
I have added bose, RNSe, Cruise, rear parking sensors, rear cup holder, sports heated leather (no lumber as early seats but leather is very good), MYP gearbox, new flywheel recent oil chain and refurb turbo but recent niggles have made me question our relationship!! It was bought as a commuter car and it has not disappointed to date. Near on 90k miles in my ownership and never really done much wrong but recent steering rack, wheel bearing fault and stupid calliper sliders threads failing when removing them have reminded me that its an old car that needs love. I vowed I would never sell this car and this is not a stealth advert but a call for help / firm voices telling me to grow up and focus on the good times we have had!!
The trouble is when looking at alternatives I can't really see anything that offers cheap around motoring etc. I have tried to find some replacement hubs / knuckles to do a brake upgrade to afford the setup of calliper carriers to alleviate the problem but not the easiest to source really and don't want to keep throwing money at th problem. I am lucky that I can do most of the work myself so that is a bonus but time and attempts to trim the fleet down mean that it may just be at the stage when I am expecting too much from the car.
Anyone else been here and how did you tackle the quandary. I know if I sell I will replace with another Audi but welcome any suggestions on how to perhaps rejuvenate this car a little as I spend a lot of time in it and need it to feel "together" if that makes sense.
Sorry for the bizarre post, but I cant be the only owner that has been here.
