Door allignment procedure

I have searched but I cannot find....

Anyone have any tips on realigning the doors?... my drivers door has drooped a little and it annoys me when I see it out of the side mirror.

I think I need a 10mm Torx bit which I can find but is the process a simple losen, retighten trial and error afair or is there some logic to it?

Thanks

I have done it (mounting a new door) but what should I say? Show me a picture and I can tell you what to do.
Without I can suggest to move the metal wire which locks the door at the B-pillar a bit towards the inside. Or up.
Maybe you need the tool for loosening the hinges for adjustment.

I have the tool and can see the two black bolts to loosen..

When I close the door it is a few mm lower at the open end copared to the hinge end... just assumed that it was a case of undoing the bolts, lifting it a fraction and tighening the bolts... wanted to see if anyone had any experience of this?

Will try to post up some pictures later

I adjusted my driver side door, but it is still not perfect. It is good enough that I don't get excessive wind noise from the top of the door frame.

I undone the T45 (or T40, can't remember) that is not directly visible, well it was a bit loose anyway, hence the wind noise. It is the bolt that clamps the hinge to the door, which I needed a 90 degree driver to reach. It should really be a two men job, it was very difficult to hold the door at the right position and tighten the bolt at the same time.

Hi mjm,

I did my drivers door adjustment yesterday, I'm by no means a mechanic but this is what I did:
Buy/get hold of spline and torx set
Check the top and bottom hinges for movement/play and check the top particularly, there's a spline bolt for adjustment but a torx bolt which holds the hinge onto the door, this torx bolt on my car had been forced up about 3 mm over time and had caused the door to drop, there are three indentations behind/under the hinge which shows the height if the hinge and if you undo the torx then lift the door up it should help alleviate some of the dropping.
Next undo the top and bottom door hinge bolts(spline bolts), whilst sitting in the ground lift the door with your hands and knees as far as it will go, then tighten the bottom then top door bolts(spline).

Try closing the door now and see how it's positioned, if it's top high then undo the top bolt and drop a tad.

If the door doesnt catch the striker plate you can adjust this with the two spline bolts both horizontally and vertically to suit.

See how you get on with that.

Ps my own bottom door hinge has play in the bracket inside the door and looks like it can't be tightened so this might make it difficult to get perfect.

Good luck

John
