Drone owners

Any other A2 owners into drones?...... I got the bug a few years ago initially building my own but now with the fast pace of development, mainly in China, its easier to buy ready built.
Currently have DJI Inspire 1 Pro (Black edition) 4k Zenmuse X5 and Phantom 3 advance plus a couple of the old home built units.
Getting to fly them at the moment with the state weather here in Cornwall is a bit limited but hopefully things will get better in the new year and I'll be out.

Not drones but model aircraft fixed wing and helis for about the last 30 years
I assume you are aware of the CAA registration and test to remain legal. It came into force last month or feb 2020 if you are a buds member

My avatar is a depron euro fighter for indoor flying

Paul yep did the CAA test the day after it came in and have my operator and pilots no's ………..Im just waiting for the new reg's that may come in June for commercial use, they are EU reg's but as CAA is pan global they incorporate almost everything (but with Brexit who knows), it will hopefully cut the need for PFCO (Permission for commercial operations) as its a pain to complete, basically PPL but without the flying hours, I mean why do you need to complete a weather course for flying a drone, is it raining is it too windy is it foggy = no flying......no need to know about windshear, cold fronts etc etc

Could not agree more
No idea what the CAA thing it will improve. The lay abiding people will comply but they are not the problem. Now the none law abiding side will simple not comply
Net result is no improvement

Cheers. Paul

Police can't deal with "normal" crime let alone dealing with CAA reg's......…..think the only thing it will achieve is to ensure clubs only allow registered flyers to attend meets, as you say people who don't care about the law will just go on as they have done.....and there are some idiots out there flying over people and crowds
One thing that has now changed is that DJI have released the Mavic Mini which comes in 1gram under the limit needed to register with the CAA as is classed as a "toy"...….....its not a cheap toy at £400 but allows flying without people having to worry or consider about "Fly Safe reg's"…...

And that 1g will make all the difference when it falls out of the sky over a crowd and hits someone on the head
But rules are rules and business will always exploit the limits

It’s a yes from me been into all forms of RC for 36 years. Dji spark Dji mavic air along with numerous little indoor micro drones. My loft looks like a hobby shop with fixed wing and rotary wing along side RC bikes and cars up to 1/5th scale. Great hobby being spoilt by legislation and public opinion being controlled by the press scaring them into thinking we as drone users are stealing their privacy.
Here in Mallorca last Christmas I had a woman on the beach order me to stop flying and leave the beach. The beach was a municipal beach with three people on the beach (fully clothed) I observed the rules and didn’t fly over them or indeed close to them. I flew out to sea and filmed the waves breaking on the rocks. I had checked the drone laws and I was fully legal. She insisted it was a private beach and people come here and wear bikinis etc. I explained I would never fly here in the summer and it was not private I had not filmed her and would she like to see the footage. She said she would call the police unless I left. I have a couple of police Friends in Mallorca but didn’t want the issue so we packed up but as we left a car pulled up and a family got out with the father carrying a digital SLR with a 28-200 pro zoom lens on how I laughed.
I was polite to her at all times - surprised myself. It did wind me up and to be honest has put me off. I haven’t done the registration as of yet nor flew my drone. I am considering selling them both due to the one stupid woman.

I wouldn’t sell up. There is always someone trying to spoil anyone’s enjoyment
If you are abiding by the rules ie distance from public etc the she as not got a leg to stand on

Personally I only fly at a model club which is in the middle of a lot of farm land so we never get this type of issue
My garage is like your lift at the last count I had 31 flying models not to mention the various airframes that are waiting for gear to be installed / reinstalled
Owe and this does not include the indoor flying models
Happy Xmas

There are drone laws in Spain similar to the UK, sadly the lady at the beach may have been correct as I've found a couple of references to drone flying not being permitted there...….there is also mention that local authorities can in addition to national regs impose extra bye laws...….may be worth having a look at local government websites. Also the fines are "gulp" substantial ........up to 225,000 euro's........

Like I say I did check the laws and spoke to the policeman next door to us and he said it was no problem.
I even had the drone laws I could have shown her but it just was t worth it. We moved onto another cove to fly.

Why is it hobbies can become all encompassing...………..my drones are designed for professional film/photography work, even if I only use them a hobby, the camera gimbals also allow the use of handheld steady cams made by DJI...……...So today whilst out "sales shopping" with my good lady looked in the local CEX store and found a steady cam...……...Its now sat beside me on the couch...…...perhaps I need to do some A2 videos...……..lol lol
