Dune MK2 - A2Steve

It’s in satin black, the shine is just from where I’ve machine polished the imperfections out; it should go back to more of a satin sheen in a couple of days.

Ive just been out and done the rear bumper and front bumper as mocked up above. I’ll get some photos once it’s dried and been machined back.

For that extra touch, what about the interior rear view mirror with compass? I'm sure someone here has done the mod??

Is this what your mean sir. As fully fitted to Project OEM:

I had one in my Granada scorpio before the days of sat nav, internet and smart phones.

I used it to ensure I was travelling in the right direction from Calais to Biarritz and back again when I’d taken the odd wrong turn, on number of occasions I might add, without I would have been proper lost!

No toll roads used at all & i printed my route from a proper map.

Edit: mine wasn’t electronic or anything might have been fluorescent though!

Good bit of work done today ready for its MOT.

First job was to address the oil level sensor light being on. Removed the oil level sensor from the breaker I have in the garage and got ready to fit it to Dune.

I can now see why the oil sensor light was on....it hasn’t got one. It looks like someone has changed the sump for a Polo one at some point that doesn’t had an oil level sensor. They also seem to have snipped the loom for it somewhere untraceable so will have to find another solution.

Next job up was to change the gearbox oil as it’s a bit notchy.

It was about 90% water so replacing with new should sort that out. And the culprit

A broken water drain catcher above the gearbox. Replaced by one from my breaker.

Followed up with an oil and giltwe chnage and she’s sounding a lot happier.

Last job of the morning was to wire brush the older wishbone and subframe and give them a lick of paint

That’s ludicrously stupid but somehow very cool.

I haven’t done too much to Dune2 over the last week because I’ve had the black one back and have been playing with that instead. I have however painted the bumpers up as I planned and fitted a front skid plate.

Rear skid plate next when I can find the right one, then MOT, rear lift, wheels spacers front lift. If the weather starts to look as though we will have a cold winter then I’ll get some mud and snow tyres fitted.

Interesting..... Jerry cans in a extended cradle off the back bumper.

Rear end shunt would pierce the Jerry cans causing an instant explosion. Imagine reversing it and forgetting there is an extra 2 feet of car, same problem!
Your such a fun sponge, imagine the fireworks! ? ?

Did that with a ladder on the roof of a moggy 1000 van a long time ago. Straight through a big window!
Van and ladder OK, window not so good. Driver? Clear as day still, 50 odd years on.
Mac.

I’d gone off the boil a bit with Dune 2 and had considered just selling it on as it was, but today it got a bit of an increase in ride height. It really is rather large now ?

I think I’ll order the fronts too and finish the job.
