Despite my lengthy diatribe and musings over all-season tyres, I’m thinking about these on winter wheels in 185/60/15 84T flavour.

anyone got experience of them to share?

Was about to pull the trigger on a set when I learned that Goodyear have just updated the UltraGrip9 (imaginatively called the Goodyear Ultagrip 9+) - and the one review / test done by Autoexpress suggests that it’s excellent, plus it’s not that much more expensive (I bagged a set of 4 for £245 delivered). It’s always a worry when buying tyres online that you might get “new” stock, where in reality tyres up to 3 years old are considered new by these outfits!! In this case as the design is so new out, I can be sure I’m getting fresh rubber, so extra peace of mind.

As a bonus, they also come in the correct size and load rating too (175/60 R15 81), which is an odd size that most tyre manufacturers don’t cater for these days.

I will do a review of them for the greater good once the weather turns and they go on - I’ll probably swap them once the Devon ground temps drop to single figures come November time.

I’m really chuffed with my Toyo Snowprox S953 ( or is S954 ? ) 185 50 16 bought a Set of 4 from www.tyreleader.co.uk for £40 each Delivered Free.

I’ve bought Goodyear Winters in the past and found they were not much good. The ones I got were Made In Slovakia. Nokians are very good. A Finnish Company but the Winter Tyres I got from them were Made in Russia. If the Fins and Russians can not make great Winter Tyres between them then who can ? Can’t ignore Vredestein either of course !
