Edinburgh Low Emissions zone

Ah yes that makes sense. I was thinking about cars registered in France.
@RAB
If you get the CoC & Euro declaration from Audi, for the Lupo, and send it to DVLA, they will update the V5 to show Euro 3.
At least the Lupo will then get Crit'Air Euro 3.
Worth a try?
Mac.

This seems likely to be early 1.6 and 1.4 Petrol engined A2s built between 1998 and 2003.
My AUA engined A2 was first registered in September 2001 (it's the 2002 MY). The options sticker indicates that it conforms to the EU4 standard for emissions.

I believe that it is only petrol A2s from the 2001 MY or earlier that face these difficulties.

I have tried that Mac. Waited three months. Result: a shiny new V5 with EUnothing! DVLA are a waste of space!

My 1.2Tdi was registered in November 2001, has an option code for EU3 and has been confirmed by Audi as EU3. It's maybe because it's not a 2002 model but it is entirely identical to a 2005 1.2Tdi! However these option stickers are not always 100% correct. At least one of the codes on one of my cars is patently incorrect.

@steve_c
Does your V5C have an entry in Euro Status box, or is it blank? I'm guessing it's blank, like mine (a Euro 4 FSI).
DVLA have advised me (in an email) that if I send them my V5C, plus CoC. & VW Declaration of Euro 4, they will send me an updated V5C. I've sent the required docs for the A2 and TT to DVLA.
We will wait and see what happens.
They quote 4 weeks as typical, so not holding my breath.
Mac.

Just out of interest, where is the mythical Euro Status box? I have two brand new V5Cs with no such thing! Are there two versions?

Here's a pic of my V5C, before I sent it off to DVLA. Euro status (blank) is highlighted.

Hi folks,

Delighted to report that my X (2001) registered Audi A2 1.4 petrol (AUA) has been confirmed, by VAG's homologation specialist, as EU4 compliant. Confirmation by email that the letter you see below was sent out to me today. I have included a screenshot to encourage you all to get your requests off. I will send off the emissions letter and the CoC with my V5C as soon as I have the letter, so this is part 1, complete.

Thanks for those who've provided the information. I will provide an update on this thread when I hear back from DVLA.

@jaffa_jim
Don't suppose you have your Euro code, from the options label?
I'm guessing it'll be Euro 3, as Euro 4 was barely a glint in the bureaucrat's6 eye in 2001.
Mac.

This just proves that this whole thing is nothing but a lottery. The above can only have been decided on the emission values, not on what standard the car was originally built to. Others at VW/Audi will decide on the basis of the latter! What you get depends on who you ask! What a total shambles!

Might be worth sending an email after all Mac. Just keep asking until they give you the "right" answer/letter!

Definitely worth the email. I bet the manufacturers get hundreds of similar requests every day, so producing the documents must be an almost automated process, not by individual interpretation. It does look like VW are using the build code though, if the CoC @jaffa_jim received is typical. Good luck.
Mac.

It depends entirely on who you contact. Here's an earlier reply from Germany:

Dear Mr. Brown,
Thank you very much for your email.
You would like your Volkswagen Lupo with the above-mentioned chassis number to be recoded
to a different emissions stage.
Vehicles with the emission level Euro Norm 3 do not technically meet the criteria of Euro Norm
4. Therefore, a recoding is generally not possible. A corresponding retrofit solution (hardware or
software) is not available.
Please ask the AUDI Kundenbetreung about the mentioned Audi.
