Im wondering... Does anyone else get a lot of static build up in their A2? This isnt a problem, I just very frequently get a sharp sting when I touch the door to close it after getting out. Its often enough of a discharge to create a decent visible 'bolt'!

Actually, it has turned into a bit of fun. I slowly extend a finger towards the door and see how big a spark I can get! Does anyone else get this?

Also, something occured to me today. Consider that my battery fails, this means no central locking. No central locking means no getting the boot open. No getting the boot open means no getting at the battery. Que?
Does battery failure mean that the A2 turns into something resembling a puzzle from the 'Crystal Maze'? "OK, you've got 2 minutes to figure out how the heck to get at the battery... GO!" [:p]

Whoa, tdiman, not everybody recalls and rechecks the manual every time they think of something!

But, on-topic, I zap myself and/or my A2 too, every time I leave my car.
There's been some discussion on this before, debating on what causes it (clothers, shoes, weather) and how to alleviate the problem (remember to get your foot out on the ground before touching any metal, I think).
Causes and remedies aside, I still get 'shock therapy', as someone called it before...

If you do a topic search you will find many of us have suffered the same, and we all have our cures! Mine is to make sure I am touching a metal part of the car before and during touching the ground with my feet. Discharges without shock. Works for me.

Plus the 500 mile long earthing strip I have attached!!!

Thanks tdiman, I had RTFM...[B)] Seems I had forgotten page 52 though?! Fair enough, the info is there and its my fault for not taking heed. But I wonder if anyone has been caught out on this point? Battery flat, manual in the glovebox! Doh!

I wont harp on about the shock thing as its clear that there are other threads about that, but I do get my feet on the floor before closing the door... Hmm, it must be these darned ceramic shoes... Or maybe just my personality...;)

I never experience this. Must be the dry air in the UK.

Opening the lock manually is easy. Just below the glass there is a small black (in a black interior) piece of plastic. This is connected to the lock via a wire. Just give it a pull and the lock pops open. And so does the boot.

philhusbands-you need to be still touching a metal part of the car before and during touching the ground with your feet. This will discharge the static without the sudden shock problem. But as I said, it worked for me and maybe not for you!
