Electrical trouble

Can anyone help? Suddenly the doors won`t unlock, the windows don`t work, nor do the wing mirors. Also the fuel cap won`t unlock. The local Audi centre said it isn`t a fuse! After that they seem to be at a loss.

Thats a new one here. Is the car still under warranty? If so go back and demand they have the car until the faults are fixed (while supplying a courtesy car of course). From my limited experience, I would say you have 3 individual faults there as the locking, windows and filler cap are all completely different circuits.
What Audi dealers do you go to - they sound really helpful - NOT!!

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

Hi Roger,

I recall I had a similarish problem with my first A2. It started after the car had been stood outside for about 4 weeks during February. I don't think the extent of the problems was as great as yours (I think it affected the central locking only). The dealer traced it to a water ingress into the electrics in the rear nearside door.

How old is your A2?

It may explain why the front driver door and rear passenger door are affected. To be honest I don't remember if it affected the fuel cap.
Is your problem constant or is it intermittent. I remember pressing the key fob from the inside to lock then unlock the car which seemed to sort it out before I took it into the dealer. Mine was a March 2001 Y reg which was 1 year old when I had this problem.

Hope this helps

Our previous A2 (2000 1.4SE) had part of the loom replaced due to a water ingress problem in the drivers B pillar. Fixed under warranty, and another similar age A2 was being done at the same time as ours.

It affected the car with locking/unlocking not working, mirros and in severe cases climate shutting down etc. The water was basically shorting out various parts of teh cars electrical system.

First happened after the first period of wet/damp weather after we bought the car.

No problem after being fixed.

Does anyone had these problems :
Passenger's door completely locked : they had to break it, no other way to open that damned door !
With central locking (by the key), the 3 other doors (and backdoor) open and close correctly, with the key only the driver's door opens and closes but not the 2 others !!
No action of the central locking button of drivers' door !!!!!
The backdoors opens on the road without any command !
After one week and several pieces replaced (and the passenger door dammaged), still the same problems !!!!! We have to bring back the car in January and hope they can fixe the problem.

(I'm french speaking)
