I've seen this problem before and it normally is caused by wiring to the sensor being pulled too tight (design fault partially).

Take a look at the sensor which is on a fuel pipe on the right side of the engine, as you look in the engine bay. It's a simple 2 wire affair.

You're looking at around £16 for a sensor.

PS CHeck the wiring first, as I've yet to see a duff sensor.

The two wires had been rubbing against a metal bracket and shorting out.
