engine drops out and immediately comes back....cam shaft sensor?

Hi guys,

I think I have read about this fault, but now I cant seem find anything.

Our 2001 1.4 petrol A2 (110k) has a engine problem. Every now and again whilst driving the engine will stall and immediately come back. Quite a shock when doing 60/70mph. No 'check engine light' comes on and no codes have been stored. Plugs, leads, ignition coil are all new. New cam belt kit, water pump and aux belt fitted in Jan '12 by Stealth (though does it now and before that was done).

Did I read somewhere this can be a 'cam shaft sensor' fault?

the part is at the bottom right of the block, over the gearbox.

Are there 2 sensors on the 1.4 petrol? One at the top too?

yep, but the one at the bottom is the one that goes as it's nice and warm down there.

I had a look for the location, but can I find it? No I can't. Do you have a diagram to show where it is. Sorry to be a pain.

Oh, and the Vw/Audi part you pointed to on EBay, is that the actual part number I need. Thanks again.
