engine management light !!

the engine management light has come on ,so took it to my mate at vw and he got codes 17586 and 17604 both intermittent

checked all the connections and for moisture etc did all checks and it then came up ok and clear

however on drive home light came back on again,he reckons its lambda probes and it is behaving like my bug did when they went on that, anyone else had them go or anything else that threw up these faults as id rather not shell out unless i have to

Unfortunately the fault codes are not listed on the RossTech (VagCom) database as this usually gives some additional troubleshooting info. The only bit of info I could find (on the Gendan diagnostic tools) web site indicated (1) O2 sensor generic fault and (2) O2 sensor heater circuit fault.
If your not getting any engine derates or poor running problems then hopefully you can live with the warning lamps until the problem gets worse and throws up some more definitive fault codes
