Engine Temp Gauge Not Registering

Hi all, recently I have noticed that the temp gauge is not showing a reading, although the engine is up to temperture?
The strange thing is that the engine management light has not come on, which I assumed should, giving that there is a fault...
 
Almost definitely the coolant temperature sender switch. Depending on model engine, easy to fairly difficult to replace.

got the same problem as well
I have the new part but its fiddly to replace without removing hoses so I am getting my local mechanic to do it .
Just check what type of sensor you have as I think there are Blue . Black. Green .
Mine was green 1.4 petrol 2001 (y)
