Just thought id join in seeing as ive not long got the mrs a great new runaround to replace her old trolley.
After she abused the A Class for 5yrs we decided she needed some Rings in her life so I bought her an A2 1.6 Fsi sport in blue. She's had it about 2weeks now and a few bits still need straightening out. The first most annoying job was the common center display (DIS) that had gone all mad and pixel error so seeing as I was in leicester I dropped the car off to a chap who advertised on fleebay and got it sorted so now the mrs can see how heavy her foot really is with the MPG :D

Needs a little paint correction on the bonnet but it was a steal and feels a lot more solid than her other rollerskate. Looking forward to learning new and refreshing the old!

Pictures will follow once ive chiseled the mud off it.

Great, looking forward to the pictures of the car.

How much did they charge to repair the DIS panel (if you don't mind me asking?). I am sure that there are a few clusters fallen into "DIS-repair" (sorry)

Hope your wife loves it, mine swapped from an A2 to an A class a few years ago and within months she wanted (and got) an A2 to replace it. She is even more enthusiastic about A2s than I am, and people will tell you just how enthusiastic I am about the cracking little A2.

Welcome to a great forum for a great car.

Thanks Steve B.

The A class is a good reliable motor but thats about it. She's already commented how quiet the door shuts compared to the tin doors she used to slam. We looked at a black 1.4 and was really nice but this one came up locally and had a little more poke to it so we went for it.

The new display cost me £90 and looks great. Ive had a few audi's before that all had dodgy displays (whats all that about) so the chap looks after me. Ill be needing to change the wheels soon as the tyres dont feel too great so ill be on the hunt. I. Even considering getting one myself now, cracking little motors with so much more room inside than I imagined.

I think that I can sense another addict becoming hooked on these amazing cars!!!!

I might have a set of 17" A2 9 spoke sport alloys for sale soon, they are (to me) the best looking wheel you can get for an A2, but they are not cheap.

I have one set that are as new with new tyres, but I think I might be putting them on the wife's low mileage Tdi Sport when I get it from Tom (Timmus), but there is another set on the tdi 90 I am buying, so let me know if you might be interested (available in a couple of weeks or so)

Nice on steve, ill give you a shout if the ones I have my eye on dont happen.
I do agree that the 9 spoke are the best lookers for the A2.

HI,

My plan is to fit the 18" version of the 9 Spoke Sport alloys so that it can look "special" and yet still appear reasonably OEM.

I am well aware of the ride quality issues, but this is something I am happy to live with to get the look I want.
But I find the ride with the 17s as being fine, especially with the standard suspension rather than the harder Sport suspension, I think the two cancel each other out a little (OK I may be just convincing ME).

But I think it will look nice. My favourite A2 wheels - only BIGGER !!!!

I have toyed with LOTS of different wheel designs and I know for a fact that a wheel that looks great in photos might look awful on the car (believe me I have done that several times in the past)
Luckily lots of guys on here have managed to find the right "non-Audi" wheels and they look good, but I don't want that risk.
The 18s are *J and that will be a challenge, but the 1.4 non-runner I bought recently had 18 x 8s on and JUST cleared (apart from rubbing a little on the plastic inner wheel arch cover, which can be trimmed (and resealed).

So I am going to have to take a chance if I am to get the wheels I want. 215 35 18s will not be cheap, but that is the right tyre for this, the correct rolling radius and as narrow a tyre for an 9J wheel as you should use.

Sorry to the moderators for the scope creep !

Cheers
