little while ago the engine management light came on so i took it to the garage and was told i'd need a new sensor fitted which was done, it wasn't long till the light came back on so i googled the problem and on a few forums it was suggested that this could come up if the timing wasnt right, took the car back they checked it and timing was fine but i'm getting "Fault code 17748-P1340 - camshaft/crankshaft position sensor (B2) out of sequence" from my reader, has anyone come across this and what's the solution please?

Have you had the timing belt changed recently, do all timing marks match up and does belt have the right tension. If the belt is correct which sensor was replaced.

I had the cam belt done a few months ago, and i've been to the garage for them to check the timming, im at work at the moment so havent got the receipts but it was something on the lines of solenoid..

I know this dont help much :/

Did the light come on shortly after having timing belt done, I would get the timing belt and tension checked either by same garage or someone else, before you start looking at sensors.

Alan

Yes it came on soon after, i guess i'll take it elsewhere to have it checked cheers Alan :)

Just checked my receipts and it was a camshaft sensor that was replaced, just in case anyone else can suggest something i can give a go pls

I had a similar thing. Had the belts pullies pump and camshaft sensor replaced (1.4 petrol) then had the throttle body cleaned by a different garage who said it was showing a camshaft timing error. Took it in to have it checked and they said the code had cleared so didnt do anything but charged £48 anyway. (Wont be going there again) Code not reappeared? Cheers Colin

Do you reckon cleaning the throttle body would help?

Only if it is running badly. Mine kept stalling and 'messing' around and the epc light kept coming on, Spike and Bretti both advised to have the throttle body cleaned which cured the problem. Cost me about £55 I think but was money well spent. Hope this helps Cheers Colin

Ronny, did you get timing belt checked, it could be a tooth out and the two sensors crank and cam would throw up this code.

Ive taken it back to the same place twice and they've said the timing is as it should be, the car runs perfectly so im stuck for ideas, plus im finding it hard to source a reliable mechanic...the one i thought was reliable charged me £30+ for an expansion tank cap and its the same guy i took the car twice to get the timing checked..

Only thing you could try now is crankshaft sensor, im sure the two sensors talk to each other.

Alan

Yes thats the one, dont know re the cost im sure someone else recently had an issue with one of these.
