Faulty brake light issue

Can't seem to understand why, but my right brake light is not performing as normal..

Switch car on, press brake pedal, and sometimes all is well and then the warning on the dash comes on, and when you check, the bulb is not lighting up.. (several new bulb swaps later) and still no joy.

Checked the wire harness, check the contact terminals with a multi-meter, still no joy..

First notice this issue with the tail lights, now it seems to be the brake lights..

Anyone with any ideas,, your thoughts will be appreciated..

Think we might have sorted this one.. There are actually two types of bulb fittings for our car and if you get the wrong fitting on one bulb, it seems to unbalance the bulb on the other side.. get both bulbs right and everything is sweet..

So if you go for a simple Halfords replacement bulb, do not be tempted by the 12v 21w/5w bulb, this looks right but does not seat correctly.. if you go for their 12v 32/4 bulb, it is a perfect fit (all be it more expensive).

Of course you could just let Audi do it for you... for a price more than £1.99..
