Faulty Parking sensors

Hi All,

Wondered if you could offer some guidance on on the parking sensors that are driving me a bit mad!
Symptoms are a continuous beep - which everyone will tell me is a faulty sensor.
However,
1) I have the car scanned twice by two garages and no fault code or sensor fault is showing
2) A manual listen by stethoscope to check the sensors, seemed to show one was slower reacting than others - replaced and still the same problem
3) When tested with the car ignition switched on only (i.e. no engine) then all the sensors run fine
4) Switch the engine on and the constant beep returns
Grateful for any thoughts on what might be the cause?

Many thanks

It may well be the control box itself, but apart from swapping it to see if that stops it I am not sure how you could tell (since VCDS is not showing anything useful) but faulty sensors are the cause 90% of the time.

This sounds like a controller module failure to me. I've seen a few over the past year.

Do you know where the controller is located and how to change it?

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Tom,
Getting to know the A2 but not the controller location. Any guidance appreciated.

It's properly buried underneath the medikit/triangle holder. Getting to it goes as follows...

Lift boot rubber seal
Remove rear trim panel inside the boot
Remove the left-hand C-pillar trim
Remove false floor bracket trim
Remove load hook covers and load hooks
Remove the left-hand boot trim panel
Remove the false floor bracket
Remove the warning triangle holder

You'll now be able to access the two Torx screws that hold the controller in place. Basically, it's the kind of job I'd be weary about entrusting to someone who's not done it before because it could turn into a clip-breaking extravaganza!

Cheers,

Tom
