Faulty Rear Seat

The passenger side rear seat will not fold down. The release handle does not engage with the locking pin. Is this a common problem? Anyway, its going in for warranty work i guess....

It takes some practise to make it easier.
First time I did it, I managed to 'rotate' the pins on the bottom of the seats, meaning that the ball inside of it wasn't coming out properly, hence preventing any lock-down. I corrected that with some prying and turning with a screwdriver (no need to force things, just compare some other pins to see what they should look like and match them)

But I assume you've removed your rear seat before and had no problems then.
Maybe lubrication then? Let the dealer decide, I guess, if still under warranty.

Cheers,
Edo

Try leaning very hard down on the seatback until you hear a click, I have to bounce on mine with my hands & I weigh 13 stone, the seat should then tip up, when replacing it I have to 'bounce' it again until it unclicks. Dealer said it was okay

ditto that - put the seats down at the weekend for the first time on ours - initially I near pulled my shoulders out the sockets trying, d realised there must be something else that the little pictorial under the handle wasn't showing - a hefty bounce on the seat top caused the catches to unlock with a clunk then they lifted up easily.

Well its all fixed now! It took 2 Audi technicians to move the thing. The catch had been mis-seated somehow and not located in the normal retaining 'holes'. The technicians needed to pull the seat one way whilst teasing the catch with a screwdriver. I wounder how long the previous owner didnt have the ability to drop the rear seats?

Oh, one thing im not so pleased with (by the way the A2 is my fiancees), on my MK5 Golf the dog guard sits over the 'hoops' which lock the rear seats in place. This means that I can keep the dog guard in the car at all times and only need to remove the parcel shelf when the dogs are travelling.

The A2 dog guard needs the parcel cover to be removed and the seats dropped temporarily down just to allow the thing to be fitted, and then the repeat of that to get the parcel cover on once the dogs are out of the car. Not such a great piece of design.
