Faulty sensors on the turbo

On two occassions I have had to call out roadside assistance to the following issue.

Your driving along and then suddenly you have limited power. Car will not rev high and will max out at about 40mph.

Audi tech say when plugged into the diagnostics, there appears to be a problem but the info is conflicting itself.

When the engine is stopped and then restarted [not smart on the m/way] the problem goes.

Problem for me is Audi can't get the problem to dulipcate and if there is no problem why change anything.

Seems as if some valve on the turbo unit is malfunctioning but it has only happened twice, once in very cold weather and once in quite warm weather but on both occassions at the same point of my journey.

Anyon else come across this one before

After reading the german forum, I would say it is either the turbo (the turbo`s regulator valve getting stuck) or the LMM (in German: Luftmassenmesser, loose translation: Air Mass Measurer) which tends to give up fairly easy on all VAG cars...

bye, Frido.

Mass air flow sensor??? My friends Golf TDi has been through several of these sensors so far in its life.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

Thats the one....

Bye, Frido.

I have exactly the same problem with my A2.

It has now been diagnosed as having the N75 valve sticking, and letting all boost out.

The symptoms are that I cant get any real 'apparent' power from turbo until above 3000 rpm.
When driving on busy dual carriageway, at about 60 or 65mph in 5th gear (2200rpm) and accelerating slowly, the turbo simply cuts out completely and I have what feels like 30bhp.
Its not nice when trying to overtake the lorry you have just pulled out to pass.[30]

Similarly, pull over and turn engine off and back on resets the problem and off you go again. Not ideal but better than 30bhp until I can get it sorted.

one garage told me I needed a new turbo so I told them where to go and shove their spanners.[9]

BTW: I can get mine to do this every time i drive my car. cold, hot, raining, sunny. Mainly does it when the car experiences higher load like going up hills in a high gear, and at lower revs.
