Thank you for your reply. I used to be computer and printer engineer and some of the printer’s I had to repair were very difficult and in some cases had to improvise to get them working , I could not turn round to my boss and say that’s too difficult I had just to get on with it. So when a garage starts making excuses about jobs that are difficult I don’t understand because working on cars is their bread and butter and they should have equipment and experience to enable them to complete a job in a timely manner.
They can absolutely do that as they most likely have plenty of work lined up without dealing with a 20 year old cars.
Years ago I had a 1986 Audi GT Coupe (donated to another enthusiast but that's another story) which had all servicing done by an excellent local guy. One day he straight up told me that he can't service the Audi any more. It is just too much effort with every single bolt being seized and he's just not willing to deal with it anymore, he's got plenty of 2-5 year old cars in the queue.
Can I blame him? No, he's got a very good point. He was also honest enough not to take the car in and do a half-assed job because it was 'too much work'.
