Technically not mine but my son's. But as he's at university most of the time I'll be playing with it!!!

Anyway, after months of searching for the right one, we've finally purchased an ebony black 2005 Sport 90 with 139k miles. Lots of history and owned by a caring person. I've booked it in to get a few urgent bits done (cam belt, full service and a spare key). After that I'm hoping that it will just need a few cosmetic bits doing. I'm in the Leicester, I think that there's a few of others in the Leicestershire area - hopefully see you around. Any advice with local garages etc would be appreciated! I'll take some more photos after it's had the service/cambelt and I've washed/polished it (i wonder if the garage will do it 🤔).

Kindest Regards,

Pravin

If I had a choice of colour, I think I would go for the black (although cobolt blue which looks amazing in real life). Your son is a lucky lad!! I hope mine lasts long enough for my eldest to use!

Morning Pravin,

Yes both Jeremy @sciroccorrado I are should be fairly to you. There are a couple of others also but none that I know of who offer any kind of services.

Worth starting a PM providing a list of the repairs you’re considering as either of us local members should be able to tackle basic repairs. Not sure if any of us are full on mechanics though.

As for your spare key requirement, not sure the price you’ve been quoted by the garage but I’m sure I could provide this all for the cost of the parts (around £50 from eBay). Once you have the replacement key fob with a freshly cut blade then I can have the new item matched to the ECU and CCCU in a matter of minutes with VCDS.

There are quite a few A2s on our local roads which I don’t think all of them are members but always reply the wave I give them when passing. Keep a lookout for either of my fleet and have a chat if you see us parked up:

Either Project OEM or Project EUD

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for your message - really helpful and reassuring! I'll PM you separately to keep in touch. In the meantime I'll keep an eye out for your cars!

Kindest Regards,

Pravin

Lovely car you've purchased! I can totally recommend WOM, and Timmus too. Other highly recommended people I have contacted are 2work, A2Steve, Ami, and Clackers, the last three good for spares requests. This is an amazing club and forum. I have had the good fortune to have met Proghound and Timmus as well as other members while Timmus was on his 'Leighton Buzzard Residency' last weekend, all thoroughly good chaps too. I'm relatively new round these parts, with a false start in 2019 with an FSI, but really 'in anger' since Feb this year with my 1.4 AUA which with the help of the aforementioned I am slowly returning to the condition it deserves to be in!

Yep, the club is much more helpful/informative/knowledgeable/interactive than most other clubs that I've been part of in the past. Hopefully I'll also get to meet some members at socials. Looking forward to the journey!
