Hi
I just bought yesterday my first ever audi a2 tdi 90(thanks for help with buying guide) and on trip: centrum london-liverpool airport-rochdale-liverpool airport-rochdale 350 miles/32.2l with extremely heavy right foot, night driving with lights/radio/heating on and on airport 1:20h await with engine on (fall asleep)
if i'm correct that give me 0.092 lpm = 49.46 mpg = 5.71 l/100km?
Next weeks will be only in city center so i update on next fuel up.

Simon - Welcome to the club. You've bought a great car and now the fun begins with options, power increase etc.

MPG wise you will get much better once the weather warms up and you settle into your driving style. Enjoy

since last time i visit petrol stations twice
sheel v power diesel (1.399£) 46.2 mpg
tesco diesel 45.1 mpg
i try v power again today but i think it is not worth a £

Agree 100%. See my fuel/mpg s/s link below and my experiment with BP Ultimate

Oh, welcome to the club Simon. Wishing you many years / miles happy A2 motoring.

My experiences with V-Power are better than Ultimate and while I agree from a purely mpg improvement/extra cost viewpoint it's not worth it, with the extra smoothness/quietness & oomph it works for me. The car(s) feel torquier and smoother coming on to boost and are definitely quieter (even a new 1.2 cr Polo). In my Passat 1.8t it gives 38mpg against 35mpg on normal stuff driven in a similar manner & route.
To counter all of that.....on my recent trip to Bad Tolz, the best mpg I got was from 91 octane. Now, the 1.4 will run on 91 'with reduced power and efficiency' but the tankful was used mostly at a constant 100km/h with few inclines, pretty much perfect conditions for mpg. I tried the 91 because we don't get in the UK and it was an expensive fuel station, the 91 costing as much as 99 elsewhere:rolleyes:
For me it's as much about the engine sounding quieter, happier and unstressed, it makes driving much more relaxed and so my normal fuel of choice is V-Power :)

I run my car on Sainsbury's best most of the time, and the rare occasions I've put BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power in due to being in the wrong place and having no other option, I can't say I noticed any difference in how the car drove, sounded or performed. What makes a bigger and more honest improvement to engine performance is a re-map, and what makes a bigger and more reproducable improvement to MPG is how you drive it with your right foot!

My last 3 tanks have seen me achieve 63, 62 and 63MPG average brim-to-brim.

I agree your right foot makes the biggest difference of all :D

If mine had a turbo I'd get ir remapped for sure :(

brim-to-brim again on sheel v power diesel, this time only town driving without 5th gear in use at all, I'm not happy to annuance 40,15 mpg :(

however this milege is on trips home-work, in the morning max 10min trip, afternoon in traffic 20-30min,

Mike visited me and did cruise control , after we did the test drive he think that my audi has got +bhp then standard 90 :D
