Have an 22 month A2 1.4 with 11,000 miles - service indicator came on last week.

Being serviced by Audi dealer this friday - told the service will cost £320 !!!! is this normal price or do you get a free stereo with the service ?

Unhappy of North London !!!

I'd ask for a breakdown of the costs and call another dealer for a comparison. They don't all charge the same price.

Yup, the key indicator to look at is the labour charge

It shouldn't be that high!

I bought my own brake pads via martyn of VAG parts and John Fox Audi charged me around £44 to change the brake fluid on 24 mth service

It isn`t that much, motor-oil and labour are the expensive bits. Remember you have driven your car for 22 months without service !

Hi there!

When we did our research with the Audi dealer, I enquired about servicing costs and they showed me the standard Audi price list for each Audi car model. The A2 was indeed about £320, so I'm not surprised you were quoted this amount.

It seemed steep, particularly when the S3 was quoted at about £230! The explanation from Audi was that they spent more time getting to the innards of the car due to the fact that these were fairly tightly packed into the shell (c.f removing the bonnet, which Audi decided joe public shouldn't really do).

I suppose it's good practice to enquire about these things before you buy the car. Other questions were cost of replacement tyres (on Audi 1.6 FSI sport - that's a lot of money!). It's annoying to have to ask such questions when you're in the exciting throws of buying a new car, but at least you're not in for a shock further down the line!

Best regards,

Alex

Ha Ha that makes me sick the bonnet must take about 20 seconds extra at most to remove & replace! over an S3 one. What we they try to tell us next, but i bet it sounds convincing coming from the dealer.

My A2 1.4 petrol is going in for it's first service at Silver Street in North Devon tomorrow and the price quoted is about £215. If this is the price I pay for living in the sticks then bring it on!!!!

Actual cost was £306.95 - did include delights such as refill of screenwash for a paltry £1.75 + VAT ! - however, they did wash and vacuum the car !

Total price for mine was £221 including mending a puncture and a new wiper blade, not at all bad I thought.

Looks like Silver Street might get some more business - £100 off a service makes for a cheap weekend away!

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

Ian,

Not only are they cheap, but the service is absolutely first rate, I dropped the car off at 9, picked it up at 12 and it was immaculate, and they were the ones that even spotted the slow puncure, I knew it was there but hadn't mentioned it. All in all first rate. And Barnstaple is a very nice place to boot!

I think it was something to do with "lots of components squashed into a small space", or something like that. About as believeable as any other sales-spiel really, so you take it with a large scoop of rock-salt.

Judging from the posts we've been getting since, it's worth shopping around outside London.

Just took my A2 1.4TDi SE to Pentraeth Audi on Anglesey for it's 1st service - 2yrs old an 19,000 on the clock.

Long life variable service:

Total price £200.36 - a pleasant suprise after reading here!
This included Labour at £114, Longlife Oil 38.80, and a few more bits and bobs.
Car was valeted inside and out - courtesey A2 FSi Sport taken for the morning.

Asked them to do a warranty checkover and this is what's needed!!...

Replace faulty convenience control (?)
Clean Brakes to rectify Squeak
Rectify O/S Front Lower Grille rattle
New motor for fuel cap
New boot lock

It's going back next week for those - also mentioned the wiper arm - they will look in to it by then.

Overall - very pleased.

got a quote for my first service at 24 months looks like for a sevice and new brake fluid will cost £320.
Car is being serviced at Lancaster Audi just opposite Manchester United stadium.
If you are ever in the area and you need to get anything for the A2 Lancaster Audi would be the prefered dealer any day over Smith Knight Fay.

What I can't work out is the difference in price! As a 'valued' customer with Lancaster at Old Trafford I'm tempted to travel to Pentraeth and have a service in Wales! It will be my first service at 31,600 miles!

Hi Foggy

We are just coming up to 30k and our display is telling us that ours will need servicing at around 31,600 - our first service we've got the service for nowt, which is nice

Does your A2 spend much of it's life on the Motorways??

Most of the driving is done on the motorway on the daily commute - around 15 miles each way. The miles to service indicator has remained pretty consistent in the two years I've had the car.
