First time Audi A2 owner near Cambridge

Chuffed! Been looking for an A2 for a while and finally bought one today...and I think I got a good one.

Decided to go for a 1.4 petrol to be our second family car. Bought an 05 (reg 31st March 2005) dark metallic blue (cobalt?) in special edition spec with light grey fabric interior, parking sensors and at 62k miles done. 1 previous lady owner who had cherished and garaged the car...not a single blemish inside or out. It has had an audi service every 12 months (6k miles) without fail and the cambelt changed twice so far. Once at 30k (5 years) and at 60k (10 years) and just before selling the car she put new tyres all round and had the alloys reconditioned. It is like a new car...like it had just come out of the factory as all the tools and owner books seem to have not been touched. The 1.4 petrol is a great package to drive it had more poke than I thought as I was expecting a bigger gap between it and the 1.6s I have driven. The wife has driven it and is keen to be the daily driver and my boys have already nicknamed it 'the Tardis'. Delighted, especially for the £2,500 I paid.

Thank you to everyone on the forum who have been so generous with their buying advice.

Hi Paul,
That's a great find and sounds a beauty of an A2 and it'd be nice to see some pictures when you have time, I also have the same colour combo on my fsi and both interior and exterior colours really compliment each other. Well done on the find!
Cheers jeff

Hi Paul,

It is great to see that there are still a few gems hidden away still, it sounds like you have found a GENUINE bargain.

Welcome to a great car and a great forum.

Looking forward to some pictures when you get chance.

Hope to see you at the socials (the meal at the restaurant in "fort Dunlop" is coming up soon, that would be a great one to start with.

Hi Paul

Sounds like a great car, well looked after and reasonable mileage. Hope you have a long and pleasant ownership.

Must of been one of the last A2's sold in the UK :)

Thanks Alan,

I was wondering that myself as I have never seen a 55 registration on the roads. Has anyone else?

IMG-20151019-WA0011.jpgYes there are 55 plates. They'll have been built months before registration though.

Above are a few pictures of the beast. Comments greatly appreciated! hoping to get a few optional extras that were available at the time of purchase, otherwise want to leave it unmodified. Excuse the poor mats inside got some audi ones on order.

Paul

That's a lovely example. I like how the wheels have been refurbished in the original chrome

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase, does look like a superb example.

What sort of options are you thinking of adding? A good quick, useful and easy one is to add heated wing mirrors (if they're not there already). It's a simple swap of the glass and all A2s have the wiring for the heating elements in situ even if not specified.

Thanks Alan,

Very nice example you acquired there! Congrats.

I used to own one of the last ever made a 31st Sept 55' one if i remember rightly. It was also my first A2. :)

That's an absolute beauty of a car Paul, and in showroom condition, you did well to pick that up, further to my other comments it is I believe Mauritius Blue and not Cobalt, I may stand corrected but I think it's right!
Stunning wheels btw
Cheers Jeff

That's a stunner I'm not normally a big fan of those wheels but the just look spot on, very nice example

Thank you for your kind comments. Here are a few interior pictures for you.

Thanks for correcting me on the true colour of the car. Does anyone know the name of the light grey fabric interior?

That's platinum grey cirrus I believe, the interior is exactly the same as mine before I added the platinum leather!
I love the two tone dash too!

Looks superb to match the exterior!

Hmm... According to this article https://www.motorbase.com/vehicle/profile/audi-a2/
"The last cars left the Neckarsulm plant in July 2005"

Mind you, I'll be the first to say never to rely on info on the web - maybe a dog writing it ;)

If yours was made on 31st Sept 55 then when was it registered?
