Fitting new gaitor and handbrake lever

I've been given a nice gift of a handbrake gaitor and gearstick gaitor for a recent birthday so need to figure out how to fit without breaking anything...

So the handbrake will replace the solid plastic part. I've removed the grip easily enough and indeed the button but the solid plastic trim seems stubborn. Any tips on this?

Gear stick...so I'll need to cut the ring to take the original se stick out but has anyone replaced the gaitor itself? Any how to's? Can't seem to find any on the site.

I can post before and after...

DO NOT cut the ring on the gear level gaiter, else you will never get it to fit correctly
The outer ring and the inner ring clip together and sandwich the gaiter material, make sure you have them in the house and leave them on radiator for an hour to warm up so the plastic is less brittle, then leaver out the inner ring, Mark the relationship of the inner and outer rings and the position of these as they fit into the consol and also where the stitching is

I've had the handbrake plastic part off several times, but can't think what holds it in place

Cheers,

Thanks figured it out but for the life of me I can't figure out how the new after market cover would ever work. If you take the plastic bit off and the leather handle it might but it looks awful. Not much thought put into the design just a "cover"

The new gearstick gaitor is going on but it's frustrating trying to get it to stay still whilst you try and clamp. No way it seems of putting the staples back in.

Cheers,

Paul referring to the retention clip. No way can I leave that or the gear stick won't come off. :)

I was about to moan again about how frustrating it was to try and put the new gaitor on.

That's before my wife had a go. Done!

Here is the handbrake gaitor. I can't see how this would work unless I just remove the grip and then it looks awful...

For info handbrake gaitor returned for full refund, It may have worked with plastic handle but unlikely - just looks like they weren't made to the right spec to me. Far too tight.

Oh and principle behind it was that it goes over the whole handbrake so it would have been complete grief if you needed to do any work!

I think you did the right think returning it
