Fixing Number Plates

Does anyone know a good way to stick the mumber plates without screws?

Also a good product which won't damage my paint work or come off with water?

Thanks
Dev

Hi Dev Provided you make sure both surfaces are squeaky clean, you can buy double sided sticky pads for reg. plates in most motor factors (Halfords definitely has them if you have one nearby) The rear plate has pre drilled holes, so theres not too much point in using self adhesive - but the pads will still work on the back with a little more prep.

I was thinking of using this method to fix a pressed aluminium plate to the front bumper recess (don't want to drill the plate), but am not sure if the standard Halfords fare will be strong enough to bond metal and plastic. Any ideas, please, about 'industrial strength' sticky tape [any good, where to obtain etc.], or is there just too much risk of the plate dropping off when driving?

Thanks

I used double sided thin foam pads from 3M, it is designed for outdoor fixings so weather resistant ...etc. Available from stationary shops. Works a treat, may be you can google their products to see if it works with metal.

As Murdo said the sticky pads for reg plates from Halfords will work just fine, just for peice of mind put 2 at each end and 2/3 in the middle and it will not fall off, i've stuck both mine on with 1 at each end and one in the middle, took some getting off when i replaced the plates for new ones with the forum address at the bottom of the plate, trust me it will not come off, we do over 50 cars a day so that over 100 plates

Cheers Phil
