hi all

our A2 2001 1.4TDI SE, has a really annoying fault. when you start the car up in the morning and for the first 10 mins or so, the interior lights flash.

this can only be stopped by either opening the doors, and when closed it starts again, or switching the front and rear interiro lights off.

i can only thing there must a dodgy contract somewhere,

any ideas?

cheers

Hi John
I have never heard of this problem but a bit more info on the sequence of events may help with a diagnosis -
EG when you first unlock the car with the remote, does the interior light come on as normal.
Have you ever tried getting into the car via the passenger door - this would show if the drivers door is the problem as the light switches are built into the locks.
If the fault is not door related, it could be a faulty control module
Hopefully Skipton will comment

It is difficult to give an accurate diagnosis on the info given, but I suspect a faulty contact switch.

Spike is correct that it could also be the central convenience ECU, but the fact that it settles down after 10 minutes or so suggests that it is a switch somewhere that is being jiggled shut by the motion of the car and not an electrical fault as such in the CC ECU.

If you have access to anyone nearby with diagnostic facilities, get a scan, otherwise, it's a dealer visit, who will be able to advise on the fault and the cost to remedy.

Cheers,

Mike

thanks for your help

Thanks Guys, i will do a bit more diagnosis, and get back to you - the car is due for a service in 2800 miles anyway, so i will mention it then.

Im not going to my local rip off Audi dealer mind you, im going to try

audi4u in Bridgwater, mind you dont know what they are like?

I had this with our A6. I VAG-Com'd it and nothing came up. A couple of days later the car wouldn't start. A new battery later and all was well and no more flashing lights. Conclusion: the lights were in someway trying to indicate low battery power, which would fit in with the above symptoms

Hope this helps

I'm interested to know how you get on at Audi4u if you decide to use them. I'm fortunate enough to be in Scotland alot of the time so we have our cars serviced there as the dealers in the SW that I've tried leave alot to be desired! So somewhere local would be really useful.

Our interior lights used to flash when the door was opened rather than just staying on..then the alarm developed a life of its own....the Comfort Electronique module or the CC as mentioned above was at fault - its £234 plus VAT and fitting from the dealers so I hope for your sake its a switch....
