What bulb do i need for the passenger side front fog light and whats the fitment procedure (done a search couldn't find any guides)

Also wanted to know what mot preparation people do before taking there A2 in for test as ours runs out 2nd week in January, The car is no where near due a service and apart form the fog bulb we don't know of anything wrong is there anything i should do/check before we take the car in for mot (car doesn't smoke so should past the diesel emission test thingy)

Hi Alex,

Aren't you about to be a dad later on today?

As for the fog light stuff, I did do a fitting guide, but it seems not to have been transferred to the new forums.

Anyway, you'll need a new H7 bulb, a flat, thin knife to pry the cover off and a large cross-head screwdriver.

Pry away the black plastic cover by inserting the knife into the straight, vertical side, nearest the radiator and remove (there are actually 2 clips and they can be pressed in from the grille next to the cover, if you know where to press).

Once the cover is off, you'll see a couple (there's actually 3, but one is set back) of large cross head screws: undo these completely and remove the fog light. Don't touch the one set back, as it controls beam adjustment.

You can then get to the rear of the unit and replace the bulb, by twisting off the rear cover anti-clockwise.

As for MOT prep, see the attached link:

Cheers,

Mike

Yes babys due any time now. hopefully before new years eve so i can have a drink.

Thanks for link, hopefully car will pass audi did do some sort of health check and only mentioned the fog bulb(we dont use them and had nt noticed it was bust) the battery (due to the age of the car even tho it works fine) and that the coolant should be changed

Cheers

Hi the above guide was great. you need a torx driver to remove the bulb. bulb replaced and working now just the interior light to sort out:mad:

Hi Alex
I had a quick look at the above link and think most of the things are covered but here's my pre-mot checklist.
All lights and indicators - dont forget the rear number plate lights, brake lights, fog and hazzards
Horn, washers and wipers
Jack up rear of car (both sides) using axle stands. Check handbrake works evenly. Use assistant to check footbrake. Check play in wheel bearings
Jack up front of car (one side at a time is ok) Check driveshaft inner and outer rubber boots for leaks. Check wheel bearings and front brakes.
Check there are no oil leaks from the shock absorbers.
Windscreen should be free of major damage.
The bonnet needs to be removed during the mot so if you'r not with the car, check if the garage has tested A2's before and knows how to remove and store it.

Cheers Spike

Excellent Mike. I was washing the car tonight before MOT tomorrow and noticed the fog light was pushed in on one side. Not too sure if it would have failed the MOT like that.

Without your posting I was thinking I would have to take the floor pan under the engine off!

Don't tell the wife, but I bent one of those thin bone-handled knives in the process!
