Just taken delivery of A2 1.6FSI and very pleased with it.

I've read about the 'folding' spare tyre in the manual but my spec of car only gets the can of sealant.

Question - has anyone bought a spare wheel for their A2? If so what type, where from and how much?

Quick search on the internet didn't turn anything up. I haven't spoken to the dealer yet but I suspect they will provide a solution at a cost.

Any info greatly received

PS. The Audi recovery service is very good - but you shouldn't have to call them in the first place!!!

If you've only just taken delivery, go back to the dealer and beg, steal or borrow - it worked for us with our first A2. We got a collapsible spare FOC.
With the second A2, we ordered the spare as a no-cost option.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a 1.4SE petrol. http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/uk14.htm http://www.audi-a2.co.uk/safety.htm
New A2 - Ebony Black, Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

I just fitted a spare alloy wheel with a Yoko 205/40x17 tyre which fits snugly on boot floor, (I wanted peace of mind of a spare, rather a shredded tyre to pump goo in too) As above says Audi offers a no cost option Space Saver, Maybe you did not have that option if brought from dealer stock rather than a factory order, you could use that argument with your dealer, If not ring Audi custmer service [21] and ask them to thow in the £25 fitting kit as well!![21]

If the folding spare is a no-cost option, then surely the dealers are ordering all A2s with them. Maybe some are taking them out to sell separately. [5]

Cheers, Guys.
The car was ex-demo so my explain why the collapsible spare was not included. However we got a good deal on the basis of buying an A4 in the future so I'll hassle the dealer (Vindis Huntingdon) and let you know how I get on. You never know your luck!!

SmartBoost!! Folding spare are factory fit, when cars are factory ordered they take 12 weeks to complete, dealers take there most of thier stock from cars held in country by VAG. Factory fit savers are found under boot floor,if a dealer fits one it sits on top of the floor flap by mean of a fitting kit [21]

Factory fit folding spare sits on the lower boot floor attached by a screw down ftting. The SE standard fit intermediate floor sits above it.

Collapsible spare is normally factory fit but we got a car from dealer stock and they swopped the spare, complete with all fixings, over from another car FOC.
You can get the bits and do it yourself - ask Johann. Pictures and part numbers on A2OC web-site. You can only get the spare from Audi - response I got when I asked a tyre distributor was that they are specially made for Audi and you can ony get them though Audi (£200!!!)

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

I bought mine second hand off someone who took it out of his A2 before he sold it. No fitting kit, but it fits neatly under the false floor. When I sell mine I'll be doing the same.

For £200 you could just about buy a full-size 16" alloy spare wheel from the A2-featured suppliers, plus tyre, instead of a space-saver spare.
Advantages: you can use the full-size wheel in rotation like you could on cars you had in the past, and you can use the wheel for more than 50km and 50kmh.
Disadvantages: the full-size wheel is a tight fit behind the back seat and it is wider, so takes up more space in the boot area. You cannot bolt it down with the space-saver fittings but it will not move around.
