Chat Forum chat room?

Hi all
I hope you are keeping well and enjoying your A2’s. Mine is currently on charge as I’ve not been in in for a week and I think it’s not far off new battery time.
Anyway, I was looking for a post to do with RNS-e’s and can’t find it.
That got me thinking, can we have a small live chat area on the forum just so we can have idle chat with other A2 owners and ask questions like “where is that post comparing the 2 RNS-e’s”
I can’t remember why I might regret getting the older version ?
We are quite a healthy forum with usually a few of us on line at the same time.
It could just start as an alternative to ‘today i’
Maybe a thread called ‘general chat’ we we can say hi and ask where things are.
Please shoot me if there are these things in place already and I’ve never seen them!
Phil

Evening Phil,

Regards comparing the 2 generations of RNS-E, are you referring to Post #207 on the Project OEM Thread.

Kind regards,

Tom

That’s the one Tom, thanks
Also found some more info in PM’s lol
So tempted with one of these, they really knock years off the interior along with colour DIS too

Hi Phil,

They certainly do. Especially with the latest aftermarket firmware that is now available.

Get yourself booked in with Tom @timmus as he will happily do both upgrades for you once we’re able to mingle again.

Kind regards,

Tom

We could set up a WhatsApp chat couldn’t we? If we could find a way without disclosing everybody’s phone numbers online for all to see.

I'm up for this. Could be a very useful thing; Mental Health is as important as Mechanical Health!

Incidentally, seven years ago today, I picked Alison up.

Alison was chosen as a fuel efficient and technically interesting distraction from losing one of my best friends in an RTC.

Those closest to me realise this, so it was heartening to see a good friend pat Alison on the wing in a Car Park before an Excercise Walk... This friend was instrumental in stopping me from selling Alison a few years ago...

I thought I'd give Alison a clean today as a sort of celebration.

Would be so great to chat more about everything A2 related. I have a few other ideas for future discussion. Maybe an admin can set up a WhatsApp group and post the link on here then we can all join it. ?

I'm not too well acquainted with the forum software, but I'll raise this thread and the questions it poses with the rest of the Admin team for discussion.

Thanks for the Like, Phil, that reminds me I need to follow up on a response to this thread. I now understand that we used to have this feature previously (possibly on the previous site?) but it was felt to really not add any value to the site or its content. Sorry it's not better news.

This happened over on DDK and most of the very active people migrated over to a Whatsapp group and as a result the once thriving forum is much quieter. There's a danger that can lead to a viscious circle: the most active nembers start to use Whatsapp, so questions on the forum take longer to see replies, so the questions then start to migrate as well.

An inbuilt chatroom within the forum is one thing, but having an alternative platform has its pitfalls imo. As @A2Steve says, queries currently get remarkably quick (and high quality) replies: I believe that is an asset to be cherished.
