Front Ashtray Removal

Hi!

Is there an easy-to-follow diagram and/or info to show how to remove and replace the Front Ashtray Assembly (not just the liner ie) and how to replace the ashtray's light without 'demolishing' the entire dashboard, or taking out a 'third mortage' to visit the Audi Dealer .....?

Although we love our A2, seems that much-vaunted 'German Design Excellence' may not always be quite as practical and/or user-friendly as one might have expected - or, did we miss that page in the Owner's Manual ......?
 
The ashtray is one of the easier things to work on:

Open the tray mechanism and then undo the 2 screws revealed on opening (torx screws).

Once these are out, slide the whole assembly forwards and out, taking care to not damage the wiring, which isn't generous in its length.

Hi janmanessi, I'll go along with your statment 'GERMAN DESIGNED EXCELLENCE' sometimes i think the 'Parts etc' are designed to be absolute 'BAST---S' to get at, i can visualise some 'warped designer' now somewhere?? rubbing his hand with delight, at just the thoughts of us Humans trying to solve his devious devices, but i still love my A2 anyway!! ALAN.
