I need my front disc and pads changing on my 52 plate 1.4 SE - what's the going rate including labour?

It's an independent dealer who uses genuine parts

I've never done an A2 before but I'd estimate:
parts £60-£80, labour 1.5hrs (£70-£100), + VAT

If he's using OE parts then you're looking at £240 for a pair of front discs and pads before you've even started with labour!

Cheers

Wow Mike, that's some price.

I'm guessing most owners go down the Mintex, Febi Bilstein route at that price?

Have discs and pads recently increased in price? I thought I paid about £50 for mintex front disc and pads

Thats not a bad price for genuine Audi parts. Aftermarket parts should work out at maybe 60~70% of that price though.

After market brake parts are just a good in my own opinion, some times they are OEM suppliers anyway like ATE, Brembo etc...

I got my front discs & pads replaced today at my local VW/Audi independent specialist (Aberdeen Volks Centre).

The bill was £186.15 (£161.86 + VAT). £67.50 + VAT for labour & £94.36 + VAT for the discs & Pads.

They use "Textar" discs & pads, which they say are a good, German make. I Googled Textar, and see GM specify them as original parts, so should be okay?

Just had a look on the 'ECP' website and prices for the 1.6FSi pads and discs are £62.95 inc Vat and free delivery for the cheaper make Eicher(£65.39 for Pagid which is an excellent make).

There are many motor factors including GSF stock OEM grade brake components which are a considerable saving if you can do them yourself and even if you don't install yourself many garages will be able to install them for about £30?.

Audi charging £186 is not that expensive but saving £80 for exactly the same components installed by a non francise garage is better for your wallet :D
