Another query!

I'm considering changing my existing A2 14. SE for an 2003 A2 1.6 fsi sport. However the car that I have located has almost all the options I want except front fog lights.

The dealer have indicated that it would cost them over £600. Is there a more cost effective way to have front fog lights installed?

go for the £600 option-I'm sure it will be worth it. To fit, wire in to the electrical system, fit new switches, relays etc is a big job and best undertaken by Audi, so £600 doesn't look that bad.

Failing that, with so many A2's around for sale can't the dealer source you one with fogs on.........

Are you sure they are worth it - ours have never been used (she does not know where the switch is!)

There are too many people driving around with them on when they are not needed.

Why are NEARLY all the A2s in Lichfield are silver ? ? ?

I wanted to fit fog lights on my A2,thought the front of the car looks better but £600 is a lot money. I am sure VAG had a kit for about £150ish and i was told buy my local dealer service department that all the wiring should be there already, hence all you need toi do is change the switch and add the lights. If you do a search on here i believe there is a guide on how to fit the front fogs.
BTW if you do a retro fit yourself let me no how you go on so i can decided if its possible for even me to do!

Without the benefit of being anywhere near my car at the moment, is there two sections which just easily pop out in the front grill for the lights to sit in or do you have to have them cut? I would really like fogs on the front of mine to break up the front a bit, especially with the front spoiler. I'm not a technically minded person when it comes to wiring and cars though.

Ian, you are so right about all of the annoying people who drive around with their fog lights on all the time, how they make my blood boil!! Do they realise that it's actually against the law to do that, probably not cos they are obviously so thick!! They think that it makes them look sporty and mean, when in actual fact it just makes them look like a complete tw*t! I usually reply with my main beam, that sorts them out!! ooops, was that a rant? (sorry about that it just kind of slipped out).

If you want fog lights to use to see better then buy new glasses instead. The fog lights on my car do not do much.

If you want fog lights to look stylish then buy new sunglasses instead.

Having had an SE with foglights and now a Sport without I can say having them just encourages you to use them when they are not strictly needed. They do look good just before dusk with just sidelights on. I did enquire about the fogs on the Sport but my dealer could not locate a car with that option. I don't miss having them now but then I haven't driven in foggy conditions yet.

Cheeky....

Seriously though, this isn't strictly to do with fog lights but did you know that it's a legal requirement that if you have xenon headlights fitted then you must also have a self levelling switch to adjust the headlights, which most cars have these days and also headlamp washers. The explanation in the magazine I was reading, at an MOT testing station, at the weekend said that these legal requirements are needed so as to keep the lenses clean thereby not dazzling oncoming drivers due to the brightness of the light produced, which dazzles through a dirty lens.

If you have xenons, the headlight levelling has to be automatic. The manual thumbwheel is not good enough apparently. Again all due to the light that xenons chuck out.
If you get a new car with factory fit xenons, there is no thumbwheel for this adjustment - something even the local Skoda dealer didn't know when an enquiry was made by a friend about these lights on his top range Octavia. Much headscratching - until they read the manual!!

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.

Yes you're right Rob, it did say automatic levelling.
