FSI Heat Shield Near Fuel Filter

Hi all,

My brother's car requires a replacement heat shield to cover the fuel filter, located in front of the offside rear wheel. It's an FSI with the 42 litre fuel tank. I'm really struggling to find what should be the correct part number - as such, would anyone happen to know what I should be looking for?

Many thanks,

Matt. :)

Nope, not that I can see. I've had a good look under the car and there isn't any fixing points on the fuel tank or chassis for a shield to attach to. We have a MY2002 TDI in the family which definitely does have an aluminium shield in this area.

Thanks,

Matt.

At the risk of hijacking this thread, my '54 plate TDi 90 used to have such a heat shield. When I took it off to replace the fuel filter, the studs that hold it to the body sheared off.
What's the best fix for this? I'm reluctant to take a drill to the bodywork, but there's nothing left of the studs to hang anything off.

I found these s/steel bonded fittings could be stuck with a simple sikaflex sealant without any drilling of chassis etc

@kp 115 - that's a cunning use of a bigHead fastener and a damn good idea. Did you prep the body surface with anything in particular before sticking them on? Are yours still in place and how long have they been on?

I’ve not fitted any yet but they are what I’ll be using if needed, will only need to clean/wash surface & degrease but I wouldn’t remove paint finish.
The sikaflex cures with moisture or a spray of water , I would push the head into the adhesive & gently smear the surface where it
Protrudes through the holes.
