FSI Rear Brake Pipe Assistance Required

Hi Andy,

Just replaced mine in a 2003 TDI with drum brakes. Longer run (drivers side I bought from AutoDoc and my local garage made up a copper pipe for the near side.

My issue at the moment is getting the back axle back in the rear castings now I have fitted the PowerFlex Bushes, the old offset washer looks to be the issue I'm ,2.8mm too big to fit back in.
(Post in servicing and repairs)

Don’t know if this has been mentioned before but I used a Polo rigid to flexi and chopped it and linked with copper pipe.

Now for the other side…

Hi All
Any Idea what Banjo bolts fit the rear caliper on an FSI?
the pt number is for the bolt and pipe!
Anyone?

Good Afternoon,

I remember a little from many years ago. The problem is the banjo came with the original Audi brake pipe as a composite part and thus not specified separately so no separate part number and spec available, Check but I vaguely remember banjo M12x1.0 but not sure about thread length. Easy enough to buy a generic banjo separately.

Sorry not been that much help by I would do as others and mix and match.

Andy

Many thanks.
Agreed part of original ridgid/flex brake pipe so no independent pt number.
Indeed. My front banjo will not fit the rear.
front look to be 10 mm, rear is 12 mm.
hmm
Anyone?

My first day with A2OC. My wife and I both run an A2, she’s had hers from new (1.4 SE) and I’ve recently bought a 1.6 FSI. I’ve run into a problem with the rear brake pipes, they are badly corroded and need replacing, the problem is I can’t seem to source the part anywhere. Even worse the guy who found the problem says I may as well scrap it if you can’t get the part! I don’t think this is right and I must be able to find them somewhere or get some made up? Any help is gratefully received.
I had the rear drum brakes replaced not so long ago , cylinders etc , when i picked up the car from the garage i use , they had noticed corrosion on a section of copper brake pipe going to the drum ..
they replaced it ( no charge )
Saying that they have taken a bit of cash off me lately replacing bits n bobs that need doing now my A2 TDI is on 207,000 miles 🤦‍♂️😒😆
Any decent mechanic can make brake pipes . Like what has been mentioned on this thread , sack your one off and look for a better garage / mechanic

Rear brake terminated pipes in copper available off ebay.
Simply bend to shape and you are done.
Easy on a drum braked A2

Having got (i hope) to the end of the brake rebuild.
Just a thought
The front caliper can have 10 or 12mm flexi brake pipes.
For the rear. As and when we need to replace the brake pipes, maybe using 12mm front flexi hoses and then making up the rest in copper would be a long term solution and one whereby then replacement hoses are off the shelf?
Or is there an already best A2OC solution?
:)

For my tdi90 (same braking system as the FSI), I believe I used A3 braided flexi hoses (to match the rest of the braided hoses on the car) and then had my garage make up the rest of the pipes to the connection over / in front of the rear subframe in kunifer - this got around the NLA part issue and eliminated the non-braided hose in one swoop. I would advise you do the same.
