Fuel filler Q...possible mod.

This is such an odd quesion....lol

I used to own a new shape beetle, and remember that when you opened the fuel flap a little rubber sheet would come out & rest against the body......to catch drips & stop the fuel cap rubbing against the paintwork....rather than the current A2 arrangement of slotting the fuel cap on the fuel flap.Anyone got any ideas where I could pick something similar up...tried ebay & google and nothing came up. Ideally looking for something under a tenner.

The Beetle drip guard is listed as a spare part and should cost about a fiver. Could it be adapted to suit the A2 ?

that sounds like a good idea, is there any way of getting dirty diesel off your hands as well? I never remember to use the gloves ! LOL
