Fuel guage stuck on full

So the other day my A2 1.6 FSI was fine and showing a half tank. Started the car up the day after and the fuel guage slowly went up to full even though I hadn't put any more petrol in the tank. Now every time I turn the key the guage immediately shoots up to the full position. I've tried taking out and putting back the fuel pump fuse but this hasn't worked.

Any ideas??

If you can access a fault code scanner this may be a good place to start. It may then throw up a sender unit fault. This unit works similar to a toilet flush system and sits in the petrol tank. Its a float on a rod which moves up and down with the petrol level and it may have stuck. Also a scan will show if the fuel gauge itself is faulty. Try filling the tank to full - if the sender unit has stuck it may free it and be an easy fix.

Check the connections on the tank (there is an inspection hole under the rear seat / under the carpet.)

That may be the problem.

The won't be any fault codes if the pump works fine.
Mine was stuck at 1/4 after the pump replacement, still stands at the same spot.

My fuel gauge was working until one day after filling up the gauge reads empty, any ideas?
