Hi all,Re questions & information on A2 service.Just had my A2 1.4 petrol serviced(3rd longlife) the total bill was £205.95 this included the following, filters, oil, air, pollen+enviromental check and longlife oil(expensive)!

Was done by independant Audi garage in Nottingham,I also had a quote for replacement cambelt £300.00+vat,the garage also told me that AUDI now recommend replacing cambelt @60,000 miles or four years,my original book says 80,000 miles but that was in 2001 which has now been revised, if anyone needs any other information just ask,

cheers Alan.
PS,car has done 49,627 miles.

Hi Alan

I have recently acquired A2 1.4SE petrol which has done 38,000 having bought it I put it in for service at preston Audi which cost £265 plugs/filter/long life oil etc, and also received a letter explaining cambelt changes were i too was quoted £300! Thankfully a local garage i used for years with other vehicles performed the cambelt change using audi cambelt kit for £200!! Advise everyone to shop around.
As much as I love Audi their costs at times are out of order and owning an A4 aswell has got me thinking not to get everything done at Audi, particularly when I was told I needed a new anti-roll bar on the front of my A2, (apparently cracked) which I denied repair until I looked at it with a mechanic mate to find only the paint scratched off in places! Totally unacceptable! Could of cost me £200 for no reason! If a car is more than 3 years old I think they get worried anything that doesn't look new must need replacing. Fellow A2 members please be vigilant it may only be preston Audi but what they tell you about the car may not neccessarily be correct.

I have just had my cars 2nd long life at 42k and was informed tha cambelt should be changed at 80,000 miles, Audi need to get their act together or they might suddenly have lawsuites filed against them by owners who have a main agent service history and a broken cambelt! surely if DVLC will happily divulge details for a vehicle recall they could easily do this for a change of operating service requirements, afterall not all A2's go to a stealer and the smaller non franchised dealer will not know anbout this change!

Which is one way Audi will be able to keep their claws into our wallets... :(

Reading the comments posted by Swede - something sounded familiar.
Took my 2001 A2 1.4 petrol, mileage 21400, to Crewe Audi for 20K service, and they charged AVS service + brake fluid change (at their suggestion) £356.95.
Swede - guess what they put on the bottom of the service receipt - Front anti roll bar cracked cost of replacement is £271.73 !
Like you I refused this extra cost and I will certainly have it looked at by an independent garage. Do Audi think that we all own a 'money tree' !

Rollbar Bushes.
It's not a 2 minute job as the engine subframe needs to be lowered for access / removal of the roll bar.I suspect they are reluctant to fit new bushes to the old roll bar just in case it causes premature wear (there won't be an Audi procedure for polishing the bearing surfaces of the bar with emery tape like the Indepent would) The bar and bushes are not particularly expensive - I'd guess £75 for the bits and £200 for labour so it makes economical sense to them to replace everything and have no comeback. It is a bit underhand though if they use the 'cracked rollbar' ploy to justify the work.

Cheers Spike
