Gaming racing seat - using real seat which still has airbag

Hi all, I'd been on the search for a real seat, not gaming chair, for my PlayStation. I was thinking to get an A2 seat, but couldn't find any nearby.
Today I picked up a 2003 Nissan P12 seat, I took it apart right away as I just needed the foam to boost the seating height, but to my surprise under the sealed foam, the was an integrated airbag!
I haven't seen that before, I mean how do they open when they're sealed completely, anyway, I'm not sure what to do with it.
I could open the platic case, looks loose too, but apparently there's harmful chemicals in it, if undetonated.
Any ideas what should I do? Thanks

Less worried about the chemicals and more about the unexploded bomb. Not really a topic for A2OC is it?

I've read in the forum guides, that purpose of the "Relaxation room" section is to ask about stuff not necessary related to A2's. Hence I posted this here. Thanks

It's the Relaxation room so the topic is indeed fine.

If anyone has any information on how/where to safely dispose of airbags, it could be useful in A2 terms as well. I still have a spare front passenger one from when my dashboard was swapped (by @timmus of course :)) and it's a toss-up whether to keep it against a the chance of needing it after a repairable frontal impact, or to dispose of it.

Speak to a repair garage as they would no doubt deal with such things on quite a regular basis. They may even be able to dispose of it for or at least tell you where to dispose of it safely.

Probably not the best advice to be giving someone, any number of things can go wrong and accidents happen at times we least expect.
What you do is your risk to take but I wouldn't be advising others to do the same!!

Take the airbag to your local tip the next time you are passing and put it on the hazardous items table; let them deal with it.
Its hardly an uncommon thing these days.

Your initial post has been removed for the reason stated. There are safe ways to dispose of an airbag and there are lethal ways to do it. If you are happy to take the action you recommend, then fine - you may know what you're doing and you may have different laws governing airbags in Norway.

However, your post isn't something that we can condone by having it on public view on A2OC, regardless of whether it's an atomic bomb and I'd urge you to retain your advice on such matters.

@Skipton01 understood, but do not believe in censorship simply because this is highly subjective, that is «when to censor»?

Should peoples threads about modifications to increase horsepower be censured? Should disabling EGR be censured? What about xenon og LED lights recommendation? All those are also against the law that very far down the lane can be lethal.

Its a forum, and I sincerely believe each individual members in here are capable to decide themself if an advise is good or not.

Similarily; many of the advices I got in here, did not work out as proclaimed, but thats just the way it is in a forum without me holding any accountable. There are threads in here how to swop steeringwheel, that includes removing airbags, and/or modifying wire harness. That can also go wrong, should it be censored using the same logic?

It is better in my opinion not to censor. But nevertheless; your feedback is noted.

I would say any form of explosive however small is not the same as car modifications, I think you need a serious reality check if you can't see the issue with your idea of dealing with the OP's problem.

And if we do not enforce some basic morals then the site deteriorates to no better than facebook. Airbags are not to be taken lightly especially once removed. Static can set them off so imagine in the home on the carpets then using a games console. Yes you can use a car chair and many have but the airbag was removed and disposed of long before the chair was brought into a home. A bit like using an old fighter jet seat for a flight simulator. No way would you even consider a rocket pack still being fitted........
So yes Relaxation Room for the gaming chair but no for the airbag issue.

When to censor?

Simple, when the content advocates practises which can endanger life, not just because they're subjective.

So you advocate disposing of the airbag by detonating it - when the person who takes this 'advice' has it go off unexpectedly, or does it in such a way that the airbag flies up and becomes a projectile, what then? What if they're stood over it and it literally takes their head off? They're hardly going to be able to come back and hold you accountable are they?

Your opinion on censoring of your posts is noted, not only by me but by the admin team, who are fully behind the action on this thread, not only by myself, but also by other admins.

In some cases, other modification topics have been edited, or censored as you may prefer to put it, so this is not a unique case and this includes threads on airbag modification and lighting 'upgrades'. A2OC is a forum as you rightly point out. It is also a place where people can come and feel safe in the knowledge they gain or advice they take, or at least we on the admin team hope it is such a place. There is no ultimate right to total freedom of speech and no impetus on anyone to decide for themselves what is or is not right, so you are wrong to assume otherwise.
