Gearbox or CV please help

I take it you are waiting for the parts and garage to have a slot to fit them? No other surprises?

Starline do get good reviews, personnally dont touch Delphi stuff other than brake flexis

The bushes will most likely need replacing think this was what was meant earlier, bit of a two birds one stone!

Does anyone know a firm who can bit new ball joints to the cast/forged arms

Hi Guys

Well the adventure continues, so after having the car for about a week the Garage went form saying it was the gearbox but couldn't explain the steering pulling to the left, then said (after I asked them to look at the at the wishbones) they said yes it's the wishbones, then after I booked it in for the job next week they have come back and said it's not the wishbones it's the Gearbox even though it's not making a grinding noise anymore since I took the wheels of, FFS!!!!

So I picked the car back up today and have now got it home losing all confidence in the garage that they know WTF they are talking about!! I have taken the wheels off again on the front and see if I can post some pictures tomorrow of the wishbones but they actually do seem kinda okay. My car needed 2 new tyres and I had already ordered them so will get the tyres fitted and take it for a spin and see if the nasty grinding noise appears again or pulling to the left. It's all very strange but will persevere and post some pictures of the wishbone. I did notice that one of the shock absorbers protective cover has deteriorated but doubt that could affect it?

Cheers

Why did you take the wheels off?

Is it possible you had a tyre failure / puncture, and the grinding was the noise of your rim on the road?(!)

To examine the wishbones I'd imagine ...

Hi guys, I took the wheels off as I had ordered new front tyres as they were getting low and indeed to examine the wishbones after getting it back from the garage with the confusing mixed messages.

The grinding noise was quite nasty but pretty sure it wasn't coming from the gearbox, the funny thing was that after it happened I took the wheels of to have a look and put them back on to take it to the garage and it had gone (both trips there and back) but was pulling to the left.

It may have been a stone stuck between the caliper and disk and only seemed to happen whilst turning, but has since gone- very strange that's why I thought it might be a CV joint?

I'm having new tyres fitted today as I didn't fancy driving the car, once they're back will re-fit and see what the A2 is like after that, if it still has issues I think I will have to look at dismantling the hubs and investigate further. I will try and post pics of the wishbones later to get every ones opinion on their condition.

Thanks

Russ
